We were challenged to make a pizza for the Pizza Hut Restaurants Best Halloween Pizza blogger challenge.
As well as making a pizza myself I thought I would challenge the girls to make their best Halloween pizza too. They loved the idea and couldn’t wait to get started – especially when they saw the amazing pack of goodies we were sent to help us.
I set up the table for the girls to make their own pizzas.
I gave them:
- pizza bases
- pizza topping
- grated cheese
- toppings – olives, mushrooms, sweetcorn, pepperoni, peppers
I made a pumpkin pizza to give them an idea of what to do. I think their versions were better though.
The girls enjoyed the challenge, although they enjoyed eating the toppings more. Molly is 7 and the twins are 4 and they all love helping in the kitchen especially when helping involves pizza.
Their finished pizzas were really cute. I mean scary! the best thing was they only take 10 minutes to cook.
My main pizza was a witch. It had a tomato and pesto base to give the witch green skin. I used olives, mushrooms, carrots and peppers for the details and moulded the pizza bases into witch shapes.
The finished pizza looked pretty scary and tasted really unusual. I liked the pesto topping, although there were a few too many olives even for me.
I also made a spider-themed olive pizza. This was an idea I saw on Pinterest a few times.
It was really easy to cut the olives into spider shapes and a quick way to make your pizza look spooky ready for Halloween.
When the pizzas were ready it was time for the taste test.
The girls put on their spooky masks and the verdict was that they tasted great. pizzas fit for a ghost, pumpkin or Halloween cat.
I dared the girls to eat the olive spider. The twins weren’t brave enough but Molly was. She took a bite of the olive spider but had to spit it out. I guess spiders are an acquired taste after all.
We loved taking part in the Pizza Hut Restaurants Best Halloween Pizza challenge. It was a great way to get ready for Halloween.
