Walter and the No-Need-to Worry Suit

Are you a worrier? Do you find yourself imagining all kinds of horrendous and embarrassing things will happen when you are presented with an unfamiliar situation? If so then you will empathise with Walter.
Poor Walter is due to attend the Seriously Competitive Sports and Funday (even the name sounds scary!). His fears escalate to ridiculous proportions. Luckily he has good friends who will help him escape his worries – although in the end it is Walter himself who realises he simply has to leave his worries behind him.
This book is really delightful. The characters are cute and appealing and tackle real life situations in a hilarious way. Rachel Bright’s illustrations are really fun – with lots of detail to point out to young readers. The jokes are just right for the 3+ age bracket. Walter lives in WoollyBottom – a fact which my five year old found hilarious. This is a series of books and I will definitely be looking out for others in the series to read.
My favourite page is the end which is designed to look like a newspaper. I love the way the author’s dedication is slotted in to the newspaper style along with some pretend adverts. This would make a good follow up activity for other stories.
