Strada Italian Restaurant Review

During Half Term, we went to Strada in the Mailbox, Birmingham to try their new menu and to make some pizzas. I had not realised Strada was such a family friendly restaurant but was really impressed with how they cater for families. It is definitely somewhere we will go again and would be perfect for a special event as the food was so delicious.

The girls were given a pack of activities to do featuring the Strada Squad. These are cute vegetable characters which look a bit like the twins favourite toys the Shopkins. It is one of the best activity books we have had at a restaurant as there was so much to do. The girls particularly liked the stickers you can use to design your own pizza.

The twins loved making their own pizzas. There was an appetizing display of vegetables to put on top to make their own custom pizza.

The twins particularly liked squeezing and spreading the tomato sauce on their pizzas. So much fun!

The finished pizzas were crispy and light and we all loved them. After the pizza, they tucked into veggie sticks, fish fillet with lemon and mayo and chocolate and hazelnut pizzetta, a fun pudding of warm dough, dipped into chocolate spread. They loved all the food and it was all presented beautifully, something I think always helps encourage children to eat.

The menu for the adults was equally tempting. We ordered off the March set menu, which had lots of tasty meals to choose from. I had a starter of tomato and pesto flatbread which was so fresh and colourful.

My main course was oven roasted salmon on a bed of rocket and fregola, which is giant Cous Cous. This was a zesty meal and I loved trying the fregola, which was surprisingly filling.

To finish, I had the hazelnut pavlova topped with crème fraîche and runny honey. Totally delicious. I was pleasantly surprised to see the cost which was just £11.95 for three courses. The kids meal cost £6.75 including a drink and dessert, making this an affordable meal out. We had a lovely time and felt really relaxed and comfortable in the friendly atmosphere. We can’t wait to visit again.
