On Saturday I took part in the Team Honk Blogger relay for Sport Relief. This is a relay crossing the country with teams of bloggers from each area trying to get around using as many different forms of transport as possible (and dressed as crazily as possible too). As Molly and I love ice skating we decided to do our bit skating wearing penguin costumes.

Our amazing penguin costumes were provided by Jokers Masquerade . Here is our review of the penguin costumes.

Saturday was cold with a bit of drizzle and high winds. Luckily penguins love the cold!

We arrived at the ice rink with plenty of time. It was funny seeing all the second glances when people spotted two penguins waiting outside the rink. We collected the baton from 92Three30 who were dressed as a koala and n alien.

At the rink we had a lovely skate. Big thanks to the manager at LeisureBox for letting us on the ice for free. In total we skated for and hour and a half. The strange thing was that once we were at the rink we didn’t get any funny looks at all. No one seemed at all surprised to see two penguins on the ice!

We handed over the baton to Iona from RedPeffer and her family all dressed in their swimming outfits.
The best news of the day was that Birmingham Team Honk totally beat our fundraising target and made £1030 at the last count. The overall Team Honk total stands at 19,075 – tantalisingly close to the 20K target! Please donate and follow the hashtag #teamhonkrelay to see what is happening/
