My favourite thing to craft with the girls this year has to be a snow globe. I have made a few throughout the year, including a fairy garden, Halloween and of course a snowman. They are so simple to make but look so lovely and make brilliant decorations for Christmas.
This snow globe is very English – with a traditional red post box. I think it looks lovely with the snow falling around it. The full directions for this snow globe are in my guest post at Steve Spangler’s Blog. The great thing is you can use whatever ornament for inside that you like – just make sure it is waterproof.

Materials You Will Need For Snow Globe Decorations
- Glass Jars
- Glitter
- Pipe cleaner
- Something to put inside – In our case a red letterbox.
- Glycerine
I used jam jars to make this snow globe. If you wanted to make it suitable for younger children to play with then you would need to use a plastic jar. For this snow globe I also used a piece of pipe cleaner on the bottom, this makes it look like snow is on the ground and also lifts the post box up a little higher so it is above the line of the lid.

I think it looks best when you have a couple of snow globes together with different things in them. Here is the post box snow globe with the snowman one I made for Steve Spangler’s Blog. They look so festive and look lovely on the mantelpiece.
