Smiggle Solihull

What do you get if you cross a smile and giggle? A Smiggle of course. Smiggle is the new stationary store which is arriving in this county. We were invited to visit the new store in Solihull.

Smiggle Solihull

Smiggle is a bright and colourful shop which is certain to attract children. It looks more like a sweetie shop than stationary. Eleven Smiggle shops have opened in the UK since February in Bath, Brighton, Bristol, Crawley, Guildford, Kingston, Leicester, Reading, Richmond, Wandsworth, Westfield Stratford and Solihull. There are plans to open more before the end of the year.

The shop has a policy to allow children to try the products. There are lots of pens and pencils on display and a big sheet of paper for them to colour on.

The shop is arranged into different colours and each is full of unusual and interesting products. They seem to know exactly what will appeal to children with pencil cases which look like milk bottles and clocks which shine their number onto the ceiling. Molly loved the rainbow ribbon for dancing.

Even the everyday products are fun and interesting. There are rubbers shaped like lollipops and pencils with lights on them or which are scented. Can you tell I like them as much as the children!

One of the ideas I loved the best were the stationary packs. These contain a bundle of great products and would make brilliant birthday or Christmas presents.

The other thing I liked were the great selection of bags and backpacks. As well as being in bright and cheerful colours they are very sturdy and are really well designed with lots of different pockets inside to keep all your things. They make a brilliant school backpack as they are large enough to carry everything in and the bright colours make them easy to spot. They even have a handy space for a water bottle and you can buy coordinated bottles too.

I think it is great to have a shop designed for children which isn’t just full of princesses and superheroes and where the colours are bold and funky rather than pastel. I loved the fact that it isn’t organised in gender children are free to choose what they like. This is definitely a shop we will be visiting regularly. I need a visit on my own to pick up some Christmas presents. It’s a good thing we now have Smiggle backpacks to fit all the things the girls want to buy!
