How to Make Pretend Bread For Kids

Pretend bread

My girls really love imaginative play. They are always being shop keepers or having a picnic or baking in their play kitchen. I thought they would like some pretend bread to put in the oven. This is a great thing to make because the recipe is just like making actual bread. The end result looks amazingly realistic. It would be great as part of a harvest festival display or to have in the home corner at school.

Make it bread shaped

It was fun to knead the dough. It uses a lot of flour so it is quite hard to knead. Molly enjoyed making the dough into bread shapes. She wanted to make a face but it was too hard to make it into shapes.

I think the sesame seeds make it look more realistic.
Of course the first thing you have to do with fake bread is to serve it to some unsuspecting diner.

Pretend bread

The girls took great delight in tempting their daddy to try some of their freshly baked loaves. They were a bit too quick to dob me in when it was revealed the bread was fake though. As if I’d do something like that!
