We love trying out new craft materials and so I was delighted to be sent a a big bucket of PlayMais and an ideas book, just in time for half term.

We were sent the 500 piece giant tub of Playmais which is a brilliant starter set and will keep us going for some time. As well as the Playmais there is also a cloth and a knife.

The noodles are really vibrant. They are made from corn starch, water and food colouring, so it is completely natural, safe and bio-degradable. They look like colourful packing noodles but when you get them wet they can fuse together so you can make things from them. They are also easy to flatten and cut.

I think the best thing about them is that you can make whatever you want. The twins got stuck in straight away and just started focusing. Molly is seven and wanted to make something. The book was really useful for giving her ideas about what she could do.

There is a great mix of colours so you can make whatever you want.

The wonderful thing about four year olds is their imagination is boundless. This was Charlotte’s bird.

Rose made a butterfly. These are suitable for ages 3+ and are great for this younger age group as they are so easy to manipulate. I think they would really help to improve fine motor skills.

If you are struggling to think of something to make then the Playmais Pictorial Book has 100s of photographs. There aren’t any words but lots of images of different creations to inspire you with what to make.

The Playmais did leave a bit of colour on the tablecloth but as they are only coloured with food colouring it didn’t stain. A giant tub of Playmais costs just £9.99. It is definitely something I would buy again.

Disclaimer: I was sent the Playmais and book for the purposes of this review.
