So today is International Talk Like A Pirate Day. To celebrate I thought I would finally get round to writing a round up of all our pirate activities.
1. Pirate Costume
So you aren’t prepared to be a pirate? Here are some easy ideas to have a fun pirate day. First you need to dress like a pirate. This post will tell you how to do it using a few things you will have around the house.
If you want to make a tutu for your pirate then you can find full instructions here.
2. Treasure Chest
Every pirate needs a treasure chest. This one is made from a cardboard box. A shoe box works great and you probably have one at home after buying all those expensive school shoes. Look at this cardboard box treasure chest post for full instructions.
Another great way to treasure chest is this inventive idea from Red Ted Art to make an egg box treasure chest. It’s one of those “Why didn’t I think of that?” ideas.
3. Have a treasure Hunt
Every pirate needs to go on a treasure hunt to find their treasure. Turn your sandpit into a treasure island and dig for treasure.
4. Pirate treasure Sensory Bin
Once back inside pirates love to count their treasure. This pirate treasure sensory bin is great for toddlers and young children.
You can even make your own treasure. I love this post about How to Make Pirate Treasure from Me and My Shadow.
5. Pirate Board Game
If you’re looking for a fun board game based on pirates then you can’t beast Walk the Plank from Orchard Toys.
6. Eat Pirate Biscuits
After all that hard pirating work you will need something to eat. Enjoy these tasty pirate biscuits, made using a gingerbread man cutter.
7. Make a pirate ship
Make a cardboard boat to sail and take it to a river to launch.
For another pirate boat made from a cereal box look here at Red Ted Art. Or look here for a more complicated pirate ship.
8. Treasure Chest Cake
If you have more time this treasure chest cake is amazing.
