Porcelain Tile Patio with Tile Mountain

Tile mountain tiles

[Disclaimer: We were sent the tiles for the purposes of this review]

Over the Bank Holiday, we decided to lay a patio using tiles from the Portico Range at Tile Mountain. The tiles were delivered just in time and the first week of the holidays was spent moving the tiles and building materials and preparing the ground ready to lay the tiles.

We were blessed with incredible weather it was so warm and sunny, in fact, it was so warm it was hard to keep the mortar for in between the tiles wet enough as it kept drying out.

Once the tiles were down, we decided to use the spare tiles to create a step. This really showed off the beauty of the tiles and finished the project off nicely.

The tiles we chose are the Materia Grey Porcelain Outdoor Slab Tile from the Portico Range at Tile Mountain. They are soft grey which is a lovely natural colour which would go well with any building and blends into the surroundings. The porcelain has a matt finish which looks like natural stone. Once down it won’t need any treatment or maintenance. We couldn’t be happier with how they look. The tiles cost £21.94 per tile which works out at £37.99 per sqm.

The Materia tiles have the popular look of limestone without the drawbacks associated with real limestone. There is no sealing required and as the porcelain tiles are not porous it will not require regular maintenance. The surface if the tiles also has anti slip properties. This is really important for us as the girls always run down to the bottom of the garden to go in the garden room and we don’t want them slipping up.

There are still a few things we need to finish, a couple of tiles came loose in the winds and need fixing and we need to tidy up the grass and the sides of the garden next to the fence.

The patio has really finished off the appearance of the garden room. I can’t stop looking at it. The natural appearance of the tiles blends so well with the building. It is now a lovely place for us to sit and relax and has made a real feature of the end of the garden.
