This time of year is so hectic for kids. Full of excitement and lack of routine. Sometimes they (and us) just need something quiet to do. Sensory play with Playdough is brilliant for this. It is fun and creative but has no end product. It is very therapeutic. Which is why I thought some New Year Playdough would be perfect for stressed out, overstimulated kids.
How we made New Year Playdough
I made a batch of homemade playdough. I wanted to be very white so I used cornflour instead of plain flour. I really like this recipe for white playdough from The Imagination Tree. We added a few drops of mint essence to give it a really fresh smell – perfect to awaken the senses for the new year. Then of course, it needed lots of glitter and star sprinkles!
I put number cookie cutters out to make 2016 and some star cookie cutters as well as letter beads to make some messages.
