Geography Made Fun for Kids

The big problem for teachers and parents is how to make learning fun. This map pack from MapStudio really helps. It is aimed at children aged 6-8 years and really suits the age group. In the Junior Pack there is a blow up globe, a jigsaw map of Africa and a set of cards of fun facts about Africa. You can also buy a Senior pack for 9-12 year olds.

The jigsaw would fit in really well if you were learning about Africa. You are looking at the map for such a long time while you are completely the puzzle that quite a lot of the information will go it. It is very bright and colourful and was perfect for this age group with a bit of help. Older children would probably benefit from it as well and would be able to complete it on their own.

The inflatable globe was the biggest hit in pour house. This is probably because it does not seem like an educational product but just for fun! The girls have been playing with it all the time. Every time they get it out I get them to show me a different country. Molly is finding it much easier to recognise where we live and to pick out other countries and continents. I think it is really hard to get a familiarity with the different countries and this is a great way to do it.

So as always these products prove that the best way to teach something to younger children is to turn it into a game. That way they don’t even know they are learning.
