How to Make a Fashion Statement That Is All Your Own

Every girl wants to stand out in the crowd. That is an absolute, unless, of course, she is a wall flower, but then she wouldn’t be looking to make a unique fashion statement, would she? The point is, it’s really a lot of fun to mix and match your attire to suit your personality and lifestyle and this is where you begin your adventure. It’s like, how do you create a fashion statement that expresses who you really are and what you are all about? It might be easier than you think!

Spell It Out for Them!

One of the easiest ways to make a unique fashion statement is to have customized t-shirts printed with slogans that match your personality, your way of thinking, or perhaps your personal ideologies. There may even be some already crafted with graphics and sayings you want to express. Even older ladies are wearing custom t-shirts these days, so it’s not something purely for the Millennials or Gen Xers.

It’s a popular way to tell people whether or not you are approachable and sometimes works to bring a smile to someone’s face who’s having a rough day. These kinds of fashions indicate a personality that is perhaps bordering on being an extrovert, someone not worried about what the world has to say. They would rather the world listen to them! It’s loads of fun if done right.

The Avant Garde Approach

Then there is the Avant Garde approach to expressing your personality with mix and match apparel. If you want to try something different, what about wearing a pair of comfortable Platform Converse sneakers to the office one day with a dress or knee-length tunic in keeping with the company dress code? And does it say anything about wearing 5-inch spike heels? Probably not!

If you spend a lot of time on your feet but love your job, you might want to express the side of your personality that is nonconformist in terms of comfort. You are there to do your job and you do it well; however, pain isn’t on your agenda. There is no reason why you can’t be comfortable and professional at the same time.

Color Me Crazy

There is so much you can do with color if you set your mind to it. Did you know there is a psychology to color and that specific colors express or reflect a wide range of emotions? Some girls like to put streaks of color in their hair to one side of their head or the other to express something that is important to them. During the month of October, you are likely to see pink as the going trend because it’s National Breast Cancer Awareness month.

However, if you intend to change colors to express your moods, don’t use semi-permanent or permanent colors. Shoot for hair color products that can be washed out easily after one or two shampoos. Also, as you change your hair color you can wear clothes with shades of that color as well. It’s fun, easy, and a great way to say you’re in a mood to have fun or conversely, to be left alone.

Accessorize to Your Heart’s Content

Accessories are the perfect way to express your personality. Small, delicate earrings, necklaces, bracelets and rings express the traditional female side of your personality. But by night, you are a totally different creature! Here you wear large statement pieces like oversized pendants, dangling earrings, and several bands of bracelets when leaving the house. From scarves to bags that you carry, each and every item expresses a side to your personality, whether you know it or not.

Sometimes it’s all in how you wear it! Take, for example, longscarves. Draped loosely around the neck, revealing just a bit of skin shows a girl who is not afraid to dress any way she desires. On the other hand, culturally scarves are worn over the head and around the neck to express their religious affiliation. It really is all in how you wear some accessories that speak volumes as to who you are and what you believe.

It’s a Different World Today

The one thing you can be sure of, especially in the Western World, is that fashion is no longer stuck in the Victorian era. Speaking of which, it’s really kind of funny to see how ornately they embellished architecture, but women had to be modestly dressed with minimal embellishments in style. They were particularly ‘religious’ if you will, in their moral code and ladies were ostracized in society if they didn’t conform to the norm.

The point is, dress however the mood strikes you unless there is a strict dress code at work, church or school. At all other times, feel free to dress your emotions to the max and you will feel the better for it. So then, how do you make a fashion statement that is all your own? It really is up to you!
