I love taking the family out for a meal as a special treat. It is so lovely to bring everyone together, and not have any washing up to do afterwards. However, it’s really hard to find somewhere that everyone will like but it doesn’t cost the earth. It’s also good to try new places so we were really happy to be invited to try Sunday lunch at the newly refurbished Hare and Hounds in Minworth.

This family friendly pub is in a great location which is close to Drayton Manor, the Belfry golf course and Star City retail park. It is also near to the big Asda, so a good bribe for after a big shopping trip! It is part of the Sizzling Pub and Grill chain.

I didn’t get chance to visit the pub before the refurbishment but it certainly looks good now. The building has retained it’s original charm but has been updated with a clean and stylish interior which feels really cosy. We really liked the family section as there was lots of space, with separate booths available. There are TV screens to keep grumpy children entertained while they are waiting.

There is lots of choice on the menu so there will definitely be something for everyone. The children’s menu was particularly well thought out as you could make your own meal from a big list of options. This is great if you have a picky eater or if you want them to choose something healthy. For under five pounds, there is a meal deal including a drink and a pudding, which is great value for money. For the adult meals we chose the Sunday lunch which arrived quickly and was very plentiful with a cute little gravy pot on the side.

My children judge a meal based on the pudding and these did not disappoint. They chose the make your own dessert option. This came with a generous scoop of ice cream as well as lots of different toppings you could add on. The girls loved the fact there was a little pack of buttons.

There is an outdoor play area which you can see from the window, which provides a good place to run off all that ice cream. On the same site is a soft play area called Fuzzy ED’s Funhouse, so you could make a whole day of it.

The Hare and Hounds is a lovely family pub which offers a friendly welcome and good value for money.
