Getting a Good Night’s Sleep

Sleep is so important. It affects your physical and your mental health so much but it is easy to take it for granted. Last year, Silentnight carried out research which showed that 75% of adults are not getting a good night’s sleep. I completed a survey with Silentnight to find out if sleep accessories,  apps or products can help me sleep better. I was sent some earplugs to try.

After testing for a week I found they worked really well for shutting out noises which disturb sleep. I have tried ear plugs before but they have always been a bit uncomfortable. These ones were really comfortable and fit easily into your ear. They do not itch and although you know they are there still feel comfortable in the morning. The best thing is they stay put – even though I move around a lot when I sleep. I did not have to wake up and put them back in.

Of course the main thing is that they need to be able to block out noise and they certainly do that. Once in your ear all the irritating noises which keep you awake are blocked and you can focus on getting a good night’s sleep.

Noise is not the only thing which can affect your sleep. I’ve worked hard this week to make sure everything is in place to have a good night’s sleep. I read a few pages of a book before bed and try not to go on the internet for a little while before going to bed as it seems to keep me awake. The difficult thing has been to make sure I am not too hot or cold and it has been freezing this week. I find that other than noise the only thing which will wake me up is an uncomfortable temperature.

The only criticism I would give is that there is a lot of packaging for such small items. In all other regards these are brilliant little things – and at a cost of £7.50 for 21 ear plugs – they are so cheap for what will effectively give you a good night’s sleep. After all getting a good night’s sleep is price less.
