Frankie and Benny’s Review

I was really pleased to be sent some vouchers to review Frankie and Benny’s Restaurant. It is now three months since my birthday so it was about time we celebrated, although Molly  wouldn’t have it that it was my birthday as we didn’t have any presents.
Our nearest restaurant is at The Fort in Birmingham. It is very new and is a small stand alone unit. We went on a Saturday lunchtime and it was already quite busy. The service was brilliant and we couldn’t fault the friendly waitress who brought the girls balloons and fun activity packs within minutes of us getting there. We would have liked to have eaten from the lunch menu, but that is not available on saturdays.

I like the retro styling of the restaurant, as you can see in the photos it had a lovely warm glow. The music also added to the atmosphere of a new York diner and wasn’t too loud.

The food arrived quickly and there was certainly a lot of it. My favourite part was the starters with dough balls and dough sticks and lots of sauce to dip. The children’s meals were really huge and we could have split one meal easily between two younger children. They could have done with a bit of tweaking, I would have served vegetables instead of salad with fish fingers and would have preferred drinks in bottles rather than glasses, although perhaps we could have asked for paper cups.

The children particularly enjoyed their pudding with ice cream and chocolate sauce and a little packet of buttons to put on top. Although the glass it came in was quite big there was just the right amount of ice cream inside, just right for me to have a few sneaky spoonfuls when they weren’t looking, I mean.

The adult meals were tasty, and very filling, and there was lots of choice. All in all we had a lovely meal, it was a really nice treat and somewhere we would go again, for a real birthday this time.
