Flower Pot Cookie Cakes Recipe

Ok what’s not to love about this? Biscuits and cakes in one cute flower shaped design. Yes, slightly over the top perhaps but you don’t have to eat it all at once. This recipe has been adapted from one in the Princess Party Cookbook by Annabel Karmel and is a really lovely book for party planning. The flower pots are actually silicone cake cases which I bought from Lakeland. You could use plain or brown cake cases if you can’t get hold of them.

Making the Flower Cookies

We didn’t have a flower shaped cutter so used a star instead which looked fine. In the original recipe this made by making a flat chocolate cake and cutting it into the shapes but I was a bit worried they would fall apart and I thought it would be nice to have biscuits on top.

Decorating the Flower Pot Cookie Cakes

I wanted the children to decorate their own cakes to make it more fun.

  • white icing
  • sweets – smarties, dolly mixtures, jelly diamonds
  • coconut – make half green by adding some food colouring
  • sprinkles

  • Once the biscuits are cooled cover with icing.
  • Put a round sweet like a smartie in the middle and shake on some coconut.
  • Once dried stick into the plat pot.
  • Add some green coconut mix to the plant pot to look like grass.

As the twins are only 2 I wanted their version to be a little simpler. They just had a fairy cake and a selection of sweets and sprinkles.

They had great fun and some of it even ended up on the cake. They also enjoyed playing with the coconut.
