Fibre Broadband: A Broadband that works on speed of light

computer

The latest advancement in the world of technology is fibre optic broadband offering promising super-fast speed for all of your daily internet needs. Its name comes from the use of plastic or glass cables, which allows faster data transfer compared to the second copper wires which are used in regular broadband connections. It has many advantages over copper internet connectivity because fibre is much stronger than copper. It is harmless even in worst weather conditions, which can damage data transmission.

Working of fibre broadband

A network of fibre optic cables delivers highspeed data over great distances. There are mainly two types of fibre broadband connection FTTC and FTTP.

The difference between FTTC and FTTP Broadband:

  • FTTCIt means fibre to the cabinet and that it uses fibre optic cables as far as the green cabinet, then uses the copper line the rest of the way.
  • FTTP It stands for fibre to the premises. Here the cable runs from the cabinet to your home. It delivers a much faster broadband signal than FTTC, which still relies on copper cables.

How to find the right fibre deal?

There are lots of factors to ponder before making a decision:

  • GAMERSIf you have gamers in your family who like to download, play, and stream videogames online, they need a speed of around 20 Mbps.
  • 4k (UHD) TV- It is the latest high definition technology, so for every 4K, you should know if you have proper speed access.

Does Fibre offer better value for money?

As fibre broadband is one of the brand new technologies, providers would price them twice as much as ADSL technology. But still, with the increasing competition, the cheapest deals are a little over pound 20/ month.

Does fibre broadband have better routers?

Earlier technologies used to supply broadband with BT. It is an okay router for light use, but if you are planning to run heavy devices, you may experience problems. Nowadays, BT’s fibre packages are way smarter than ancient technologies. You would not run into problems even if you add 20 devices to the maximum.

Types of Broadband available:

  • Superfast 1 fibre Broadband- Any broadband that has a download speed of more than 24mbps and less than 300 Mbps. It is mostly useful for households with general utilities.
  • ULTRAFAST FIBRE BROADBAND: Any broadband that has a speed higher than 300 Mbps and less than 500 Mbps. Broadband-like these are perfect for households with extreme streaming and downloading requirements.
  • GIGABIT FIBRE BROADBAND: Any broadband that has a bandwidth of more than 1000 Mbps. It is swift and is provided to only a couple of per cent of the UK population and most probably never needed.

With these details in mind, it would be effortless for the readers to make a wise decision in a short period. So, don’t let you work suffer and choose the one that serves your purpose and complements your pocket.
