In the holidays we made some really pretty fairy wand biscuits. They were pretty simple to make and would be lovely at a fairy theme birthday party. The recipe we used was a simple lemon biscuit recipe but you could use any that you want as long as the dough is quite firm so it stays together.
Ingredients:
For the fairy wand biscuits1 medium lemon125 g (4 1/2 oz) plain flour50g (2oz) icing sugar1 medium egg100g (4oz) butter lolly pop sticks
For the decoration200g (7oz) icing sugar3 tablespoons lemon juiceyellow food colouringgold ballswhite stars (came in a mixed tub of colours) ribbon
Sift the flour and icing sugar into a bowl. Stir in the lemon rind.
Cut the lemon in half and squeeze the juice into a bowl.
Separate the egg and add the yolk to the flour mixture.Add the butter and a tablespoon of lemon juice.Stir until smooth.
Roll mixture into a ball.Wrap in plastic and leave for 30 minutes in the fridge. Heat the oven to 190 degrees C 375 degrees F, gas mark 5
Roll dough onto a floured surface.Cut into star shapes.
Carefully add a lollypop stick to each star.Bake in the oven for 8-10 minutes until golden.
Mix the icing sugar and three tablespoons of lemon juice.Add two drops of yellow food colouring.Add a line of golden balls around the outside.(white icing and silver balls would also look great!)Add stars to the centre.Decorate with ribbons.
Here are the ones which the girls made, they had such fun decorating them and not sticking to my design principles. I think they still look fabulous! Finally invite some fairies around to enjoy their fairy wand biscuits.
