This is the recipe the girls made for an Egyptian bread. The bread is quite dry and is like a pita bread. We found it quite easy to make and was a good bread to try as our first attempt.

I mixed up the dough inside and then let the girls knead it in the garden as they were enjoying being outside.

It was so lovely being outside and making something together.

We discovered that kneading is quite hard work.

The girls enjoyed rolling the dough into balls and squashing it flat. They were very pleased with the finished bread.

The finished bread was very dry and had quite a grainy texture. It was really filling. It would work best as an accompaniment to a dinner with a lot of liquid like a stew or a curry.

If we were going to make it again I would put it on a lower heat. I made the oven much too high and it caused the bread to crack a little. I think a temperature of 170 C would be better.

The girls were very excited to see the finished bread. They wanted to have two pieces each.

I would definitely make bread with the girls again. They loved the whole process and were so proud of their finished loaves.
