Dora The Explorer: An easter Egg-stravaganza from Nick Jr

The Easter Bunny came early for us this year. He delivered a bumper package of Easter programs from Nick Jr to review.

The first program is old favourite Dora the Explorer. She goes on an Egg-citing Easter Adventure (sorry for the pun!) rescuing the Hip-Hop-Bunny’s basket of eggs from Swiper just in time for the big Easter Egg Hunt. This is as usual a fun packed show which proves why it was watched by 7.5 million viewers in 2011. Dora is a feisty, brave heroine, albeit with an annoying voice. As usual there are a whole host of familiar characters and egg-ceptionally catchy Easter song. The best part was the journey down the Rainbow River on a giant rubber duck, what else can you wish for this Easter?

Team Umi Zoomi is a show for the modern age. It combines 2D and 3D animation with live action to create Umi city. The main characters are maths powered superheroes Milli and Geo and their robot best friend.

The Easter special The Umi City Egg Hunt shows the team helping their friend April find the most special egg of all, The Rainbow Egg. They follow it down the rabbit hole and discover the amazing world of rabbits down below.

Finally Nick Jr is launching their egg-cellent new show Tickety Toc this month. This stars twins Tommy and Tallulah Tockety in funny fast paced adventures. This is a British show and has a very British sense of humour, being full of slapstick, which my daughter found hilarious. I like the fact that it stars a boy and a girl. It also tackles time in a fun and engaging way as the heros pop out of the Tickety Toc clock every hour.

Watch Tickety Toc Mon-Fri at 8.15 throughout April

Disclosure: I was sent a copy of the programs to review and was not at all influenced by the rather gorgeous parcel of Easter Eggs which probably won’t make it to Easter intact. As usual the views expressed are my own.
