Craft projects – planning a tidier hallway

In Breakfast at Tiffanies, Audrey Hepburn’s character Holly Golightly says that when she gets a bad mood (what she calls the mean reds) “the only thing that does any good is to jump in a cab and go to Tiffanies. Calms me down right away. The quietness and the proud look of it; nothing very bad could happen to you there.”For me, that’s how I feel about pinterest. If you haven’t found this website it’s basically a big notice board where you pin images from websites you want to look at again. It’s a pretty simple idea really: look at pretty things, pin pretty things, aaaaand relax. I don’t know why but I find it incredibly soothing. Unlike Tiffanies which if I went inside I would be panicking that I’d break something.

The thing I’ve realised is that you actually are supposed to do some of the things you pin. So I thought I’d  try to find some useful images for a little project I want to do in our house. At the moment getting the girls ready to leave the house is a nightmare. I start getting them all into their coats at least fifteen minutes before we need to leave the house and even then we end up late as I try to track down a wayward shoe or glove. I want to make the hallway a bit more organised so that I can find everything easily.

Here are some images which are hopefully inspire me. I might make a start tonight. Then again, just the thought of wading through all the abandoned hats and scarves is giving me an attack of the mean reds. I’ll just pop on to pinterest and see if there’s another way to store hats. I may be some time…
