Bank Holiday Patio Project

Tiles from Tile Mountain

When we were asked if we wanted to review tiles from Tile Mountain it couldn’t have come at a better time. With the Easter bank holiday coming up we had planned a Bank Holiday project. We built a garden room a couple of years ago but it never quite looked finished and we wanted to have a patio in front so we could sit outside. We had been considering decking but when we saw the beautiful tiles on the website we knew this was just the look we wanted to finish off the garden.

The Tile Mountain website is really easy to navigate and you can get everything you need to complete your project. The tiles we chose are from the Portico Range from Tile Mountain. This durable range of tiles is 18-20mm thick and comes in a range of styles. We chose the Materia Grey Porcelain Outdoor Slab Tile.

The delivery was unbelievably quick. We were given a day for delivery between 8 and 6pm. The delivery man called to let us know it was on its way. The tiles were delivered on a pallet and I was really impressed with how close they got it to the house at the end of the drive. This made it a lot easier for us to move and made it feel safer.

The tiles looked really good. We chose 760x760mm which are quite large as we thought it might make the process of laying them a bit easier as this was our first time laying a patio. They were quite heavy and definitely needed two people to lift.

This picture shows the bottom of the tile, which has excellent anti-slip properties. The tiles are  20mm thick and have weatherproof properties. When we got the tiles down we loved the soft grey colour. They looked just like weathered limestone and looked lovely in the sunlight. The tiles are made from durable glazed porcelain and don’t require post-installation sealing.

Come back later and see how we got on with the rest of the project.
