There is nothing better than snuggling on the sofa with your family and enjoying a favourite movie. It is one of those treats which costs very little but makes everyone feel very happy. February can be such a depressing and wet and windy month. Everyone is still on a tight budget after Christmas and the lighter days seem to be a long way off. However, there are lots of things you can do to make yourself feel better in this cold and barren month. It reminds me of the Danish word “hygge”, which means creating a warm atmosphere by spending time doing good things with good people.

So we were really lucky to be invited to take part in Gracewell’s night at the Movies. We were sent a film and given some tasty snacks to enjoy while we were watching it. The girls really loved the retro sweets and they gave me a feeling of nostalgia for my own childhood.

We wanted to take part in this to highlight how important it is that everyone can spend time together as a family, doing something simple, yet enjoyable as watching a film together. Hold regular movie nights for their residents and their families. It’s a way of bringing them together and creating a lasting peace and happiness.

We certainly enjoyed our movie night. It created a sense of companionship and gave us something to talk about other than just nagging to tidy their bedrooms. We chose the fun movie Ant-Man as the girls are really into superheroes at the moment. Well ok, I admit it, this was my choice as they made me sit through the squeaky voices of Alvin and the Chipmunks at the cinema yesterday! Still I think arguing over what film to watch is another highlight of movie night!
