4 Easy Bacon Recipes You Can Do With Your Kids

Bacon is a quintessential part of any breakfast table. It can be as simple as frying store-bought ones like the usual Goldbelly Bacon and topped with a little bit of salt, or as complicated as a smoked bacon BLT with a homemade bacon brine. It is always surprising to me how many people are intimidated by the idea of cooking bacon, but it is so easy! Here are four easy bacon recipes that you and your kids can experiment with, ranging from breakfast to dinner.

Easy Bacon Recipe #1: Bacon and Egg Muffins

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup chopped fresh parsley
  • 8 slices of bacon, cooked and crumbled

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Line a muffin tin with paper liners.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together milk, oil, and eggs.
  4. Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Stir in bacon.
  5. Spoon batter into prepared muffins cups. Bake for 18 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. Let cool for 10 minutes before removing it from the tin to serve.

Easy Bacon Recipe #2: Bacon spinach and cheese quiche

Ingredients:

  • 1 pie crust, unbaked
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 cups chopped fresh spinach
  • 8 strips bacon, cooked and crumbled

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C).
  2. Line a 9-inch pie dish with the crust.
  3. In a large bowl, combine mozzarella cheese, spinach, and bacon.
  4. Pour the mixture into the pie dish.
  5. Bake for 20 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbly.

Easy Bacon Recipe #3: Bacon-wrapped jalapeno poppers

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 (4-ounce) can of diced green chilies, drained
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • 8 bacon slices, cooked and crumbled

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  2. In a shallow dish, whisk together flour and salt.
  3. In another shallow dish, whisk together egg, milk, and chili powder.
  4. Dip jalapeno peppers in the flour mixture, then the egg mixture, and finally the bacon.
  5. Place jalapeno peppers on a baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes, until slightly crisp.
  6. Garnish with cilantro and serve.

Easy Bacon Recipe #4: BLT sliders

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 pound lean ground beef
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper 8 slider buns
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise 8 strips bacon, cooked and crumbled

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. In a shallow dish, whisk together flour and salt.
  3. In another shallow dish, whisk together milk and garlic powder.
  4. In a large bowl, mix together ground beef, milk mixture, and onion powder.
  5. Divide the mixture evenly among the slider buns.
  6. Top with mayonnaise and bacon.
  7. Close slider buns and grill for 3 to 4 minutes, or until the bacon is crisp.

Easy Bacon Recipe #5: Bacon Wrapped Grilled Cheese

Ingredients:

  • 8 slices of American cheese
  • 8 slices of bacon, cooked and crumbled

Directions:

  1. Preheat grill to medium-high heat.
  2. Wrap each slice of cheese in a piece of bacon.
  3. Grill for 2 to 3 minutes per side, or until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  4. Serve immediately.
